At Vively, we believe that better health starts with better understanding. That’s why we’re excited to announce our first research collaboration with Flinders University, supporting a pioneering study exploring how continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) could help prevent type 2 diabetes (T2D) in post-menopausal women.
Post-menopausal women face several physiological changes that make glucose management more challenging, including hormonal shifts, ageing, and changes in body composition. These factors collectively increase the risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes.
While CGMs and digital health platforms have shown encouraging results in supporting healthier habits, there is still very little research into how they work together specifically for post-menopausal women.
This real-world observational study is one of the first of its kind and represents an important step towards closing that evidence gap.
Led by Dr Elke Sokoya, Senior Lecturer and Founder of the Chronic Disease Research Laboratory at Flinders University, the study will explore whether using a CGM, alongside tailored diet and lifestyle guidance, can help improve glucose control and reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes after menopause.
The findings will provide valuable evidence on the potential benefits of this approach and help shape the design of a larger future clinical trial.
The study has been approved by the Flinders University Human Research Ethics Committee and is registered with the Australian New Zealand Clinical Trials Registry.
Since launching in 2022, Vively has evolved from a CGM data analysis app into a comprehensive preventive health platform. Today, we help people better understand their metabolic health through personalised insights, access to accredited dietitians, and practical nutrition and lifestyle guidance tailored to their individual needs.
This collaboration marks an exciting milestone in our mission to help people understand and optimise their long-term health through data, insights and expertise.
We’re proud to partner with Flinders University on research that has the potential to improve the health and wellbeing of women during a life stage that has historically received too little attention.
Flinders University is now recruiting volunteers to take part in the study.
